Articles about kitties, for awhile? Everyone loves kitties!

According to ezinearticles.com:

"Scientific studies have recently confirmed what cat owners have known for a long time... that owning a cat is good for your health. In fact, the results are dramatic, showing that people who have had a pet cat at some point in their lives are 40% less likely to die from a heart attack and 30% less likely to suffer from heart disease. These results are a one-up on dog owners, who despite getting more exercise from their pet, show no health benefits to their hearts."

So, lets talk about cats....

Now I lay me down to sleep,
my owners bed is soft and deep.

I always find the center groove
and my silly owner cannot move!

I've got his legs, he's tucked in tight
And here is where I'll sleep tonight

Do not disturb me or dare intrude
until morning light and and I want food.

I sneak ever so slowly to begin
cute nibbles on my human's chin.

The morning's here it's time to play
and I always seem to get my way.

I thank sunshine for giving me
This human person that I see.

The one who hugs me and holds me tight
And sacrifices his bed at night!

So tell me all about your furry friend and why he / she is so special in your life. Have fun.

I had a kitty named Tippy. She would sleep on my head at night and purr so darn loud. Since she was warm and fuzzy I forgave her.

Cats are quite cute.

I am sorry for the loss of your sister. May you find comfort and rest my friend.

Awwww... dang it. Cuteness galore.

One of our fuzzy feline four-footers thinks he's a dog. Kind of hard to take him seriuosly when his meow sounds like a high-pitched "mewp!"

Yes! My sister used to have a cat she named "Borker". When he meowed it sounded like little "Borks". One of mine used to go and try to open the door. He said "owt" owt". Too special! :-)

Cute! I love kitties! :)

I have a kitty named Mo. (I think, my kids change the name all the time and I can't keep up)

He is fluffy, gray and white and gets very mad if you try to him out of his chair on the back deck. :)

Oh, and he can catch birds out of mid-air! Awesome, right? Sorta, except for the poor bird.

My Cuhlwch and Olwen are a lean, orange, ball of fluff and a porky turtle shell. They are siblings, and are insanely nice to each other. When they play fight, Cuhlwch (the orange boy) will let Olwen jump on him and chew his head, and never strike back at her. They eat out of the same dish, and neither ever tries to shove the other away. If I put wet food on a small plate, they will take turns. Cuhlwch will take a bite, then move his head so Olwen can. They always sleep on top of each other, and are the most adorable cats ever, and are much better than everyone else's cats.

My poor cat has two puppies now. He lets them trounce him and bite him and push him around, all day long and at the end of the day they all curl up together and sleep in a big furry, paw-filled, mess. So cute.

It has been a long time since I had puppies and I now remember why I have always liked kitties better.

I saw a news story about a baby squirrel that was adopted by a cat that just had kittens. It was really amazing how it just seemed to fit in to the fur ball.

I love that story. I want a pet squirrel so badly! Unfortunately, they're fairly short lived, and I can't take short-lived pets, any more. After my rat Buttercup died, it just became too depressing to know that, after just a couple years, I'd lose someone I'd gotten so attached to.

Rat? Lawdy. That's different. What kind of personality did it have?

Saw a squirrel doing the bounce-and-skip on the snow today. He's in full-on fat and fluffy mode. They look pretty darn endearing.

Aside from their short lifespans, rats are the best pets. They're super clean, very smart, and fall in love with you. Buttercup had her cage, but I mostly just left the door open. She would follow me around my apartment, climb up my pant leg and sleep on my lap when I was on the computer, and jump around playing with any toy I offered her. I used to take her to the beach, where she would bury herself in the sand, then burst out, shake sand everywhere, then bury herself again. Once, I took a lady friend on a picnic in Golden Gate Park. I brought Buttercup in her traveler cage, and just let her out. She immediately scampered off into the bushes. Half an hour later, we were getting ready to leave, and I called to Buttercup and snapped. Seconds later, she bounded out of the bushes and climbed into my lap, ready to go home. They're amazing pets.

Kinda cool when pets have great personalities... Looked up the "Maine Coon" cat based on a remark below and I think one of our four-footers might actually be one. But he has really curly tummy hair... have no idea what he is other than a huge kitty-dog.

Kevin, I loved my kitty Ivy. She was a rescue (like most) and I still miss her. Then we adopted two feral cats, that was an experience. Phoebe had so many litters in the wild it was unbelievable. Daisy was one of her babies. It was a bitter sweet experience. Daisy was still a kitten and after a very long time, she learned to trust us. Phoebe never did. She was blind and we didn't know it. I can't imagine how frightening her life was for so long. The only consolation is they lived out their lives in safe, warm dry, loving surroundings and never had to fight other feral cats or scrounge for food. Adopting feral cats is not for everyone, but if you can find it in your heart...do it.

I saw a crow adopt a little black kitten and they were inseperable. It took the homeowners who owned the property where the kitten was just tossed a long time to win the kitten over, but they did. It was amazing to see a crow and kitten play, cuddle and the crow even fed her; animals are so much smarter than we give them credit for, aren't they?

BTW KEVIN...fired you off an email. Need a question answered if you wouldn't mind. Thanks!

    PJ

P.S. I have never seen a troll adopt a kitten or do much of anything for living things...have you?

Kevin, thanks for inviting me over. I started to comment here a few minutes ago but my computer updated and needed to restart.

I love cats, and I had a cat named Mojo that was 9 years old when he died in 1982. He was completely delightful and I've missed him very much. I'll never forget his antics and personality. He's still remembered by friends who knew me then and still comes up in conversations, and in fact as recently as last weekend he was mentioned. One day, he was outside when I wasn't at home and was mauled and couldn't be saved.

I lived in Australia for 14 years and came back home to America in 2004. I had two cats there, Molly and Matilda that I so adored that it broke my heart to leave them. I gave them to a very good home where they have a beautiful butterfly garden to play in and they were happy and loved by their new family, but they knew something was wrong and they could sense that my heart was broken. I saw deep sadness in their eyes and they certainly saw it in me and they didn't want to leave my side.

I don't have any pets now. I live in a small house near a highway that isn't fenced and I'm gone all day at work, so I just don't want to have another cat yet. Maybe someday.

Those little boxes on the front page that say, Columnist, Top Seeds, etc ...

              They scroll the articles.

You will notice My article is not in the Columnist Tracker but Tyler's racial slur against white people is.

Tyler is mad that I had more votes than him. He removed my article. I'm not even in the RSS feed and I have more votes than most of the articles.

Ah. Went and checked that out. I really don't know how that whole thing works...

If you'd stop posting on it, maybe it wouldn't be there? Heh.

I didn't think his article was racist, when I saw kids paint their face in the past - I just didn't get the point. And I still don't. I don't know if they're being purposefully insensitive or just schmucks or... some other point I missed.

For the record, I don't think Tyler's mad at you - or has any kind of e-vendetta going on. Seems like he's actually curious how you arrived at your opinion... but that's only from my perspective. Do we need to put you on a Tyler-free diet? : )

Now stay outta there, Mr. AK. Or we're gonna have to duct-tape you here in the kitty article.

Kevin, I have two old ladies at this time. My Siamese (Narcissus, aka Cissy, aka the wench kitty from hell) is almost 15, and Tsunami is 10. They can't stand each other! Both Alpha Females I guess.

Tsunami is from several generations of feral cats. I brought her home from work, her family got *baled* (accidentally pulled into the baler materials, but she popped out the end), she was about 4 days old, eyes not even all the way open. We fed her with eyedroppers and syringes until she could eat food. She weighs about 15 pounds now! I adore my girls! ♥

              Kitties!!

I've got two - a crazy longish-haired tortise shell calico named Chloe (14 1/2) and a short haired brown tabby named Pippin (14). Chloe is about 8 pounds and Pip is close to 14 pounds, but Chloe rules the roost - and is a bit of a bitchy kitty. I also think she's getting senile, because she's starting to meow a LOT and driving us bonkers.

I think her attitude may have saved her skin one day a couple of months ago, though. Hubby let her out in the morning (she usually goes out with me mornings when I feed the birds, fill the birdbath and clean leaves out of the pool), but I wasn't out there with her, as I was sleeping in. When I got up, I heard her screaming at something, and went out and found her nose to nose with a bobcat on the patio. Bobcat (who was also in residence last year - we call him Bob) was, luckily, simply looking bemused and gave me a look of disdain and sauntered away to hide under a bougainvillea when I went outside. Needlesstosay, Chloe has not been out for quite a while.

This looks just like Bob: http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTdmDq2TztrcWWDSXLZ0Z9YKCgMh5P3GexhUM0WHpOrhj-M3jB0

Yeah for target practice. j/k ... I actually love my cat ... Actually I thought she was dead, there was a fur ball stuck in the sleet and ice on my bedroom patio I scarped it off the patio and it blinked. I put in the shower room and left the hot water run slow drain open. Kept it humid and steaming all day. I went got from the office, when I came back i thought it would be dead, but there was a little black kitten.

I have had 9 years now. We have understaning we share the master suite, but no one is in charge.

A worthy subject matter Kevin - Amazingly affectionate creatures, their love is very real and unconditional. Highly intelligent too! I had a cat called Toby as a child, I swear that moggie believed she was human, certainly had personality - understood every word, did not suffer fools gladly - used to wake me up every morning and follow me to school. Loved that cat!

First of all..thanks to Elaine for turning me on to this article. Cool to see something everyone can (mostly) agree on. =)

I was always a dog person. Mostly just because I was raised around them. The hunting kind. You know...the ones that you suspect are made out of synthetic material, are bullet proof and act like they're on meth? Those kind. Kinda hard to cuddle with.

When I lived out in the country, I was out of the deck and heard this pathetic little "mew". I looked down, and there was this little gray and white fuzz ball with eyes. It sort of looked like a Furby. lol.

Rebecca was only 8 at the time and wanted to name her. So we ended up with a girl cat named "Charlie". Charlie is now about 10-11 years old and is laying on the heat vent about 3 feet from me as I type this.

Oh...And for anyone who is interested in reading the difference between the way cats and dogs think...this is pretty hilarious:

The funniest story - my olde english bulldog actually climbed a tree the other day and sat up in it barking at a squirrel. How she climbed it I don't know - that would have been hilarious to see. She has a bulldog body - not made for climbing trees!

3 kitties at my house. : ) I LOVE kitties!

We have a 7 year old gray tabby named Giles, a pure black, extremely long haired, kitty who's 3 years old name Izzo, and our newest addition, a black and white short hair who's about 5 named Sheldon. My main man, Giles, I've had since even before I met my husband and Giles sleeps above my head on my pillow at night. I can't even fall asleep unless he's there! Izzo does her own thing, crazy cat likes to play with everything so she's all on the Christmas tree decorations right now. Poor Sheldon still hasn't accepted he has to live with an 8 year old chocolate lab, yet, so he still kinda hides but he sure is one lovey kitty! Likes to give kisses and kitty headbutts.

And no talk about kitties can be complete without the "Soft Kitty" song....

Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur!!!

Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr!!!

I really can't judge whether cats are better than dogs. But one thing I can say is cuddling up to any of the varieties does make one feel good. However then again, I also feel cats do go one up on their counterparts especially when it comes to the hygiene factor. Well, as one might know cats work hard towards keeping themselves neat and clean. Nevertheless, a doggie has its own charm and it is also one of the most obedient and faithful animals, the human race has known. So, be it a cat or a dog I tend to love both of them alike.

In addition to the hygiene factor...you also have the independence factor that places cats a notch above, too.

If you have to, you can leave a cat alone for a couple of days with full bowls of food and water. When you return, your house will be as you left it and the cat will be sleeping on the bed.

Try leaving a dog alone for a couple of days and your prized, oriental rug will have become a toilet, your sofa will be chewed beyond recognition and all the clothes will be pulled out of your laundry basket! ☺

Yup Pat! I guess you are right but that somehow shows us the innocent side a dog. Just like a little kid it is not aware of the consequences brought forth by its actions. And still at the end of the day no matter how angry we might be, we just can't stop adoring it.

Pat, you just brought back a memory from back in the 70's when I lived in San Diego. We had our cat Mojo and we got a dog since we lived in a not so good area and thought a barking dog would deter robbers. Well, one day I came home from work and there were little piles of chewed up things everywhere. I couldn't figure out how the dog could possible have gotten to the stuff that was on the mantle and on top of chest of drawers etc. Then I figured out the cat knocked the stuff off for the dog to chew up! Obviously when he'd finishing chewing up one thing the cat would knock something else off for the dog to chew up! The little monsters just partied all day running around the house knocking stuff off and chewing it up!

That is hilarious! It's like you had a true blue, Bonnie & Clyde of the canine/feline world living under your very roof! I would have loved to have seen that.

I have two dogs and one cat. The big, lazy dog that sleeps 90% of the day...the little hyper dog that likes to play leap frog over the big dog while she's sleeping....and the cat that likes to hide under the couch and swat the little dog in the butt when he finally winds down and curls up by my feet.

The little dog is the only animal (aside from horses) that I ever bought and the only purebred I've ever owned. I'll never do that again. I paid $300 for the little sh*t...and that works out to roughly $50 per brain cell for him. ☺ No where near as smart as the big rescue mutt or the stray cat. Ohhh....he looks really alert. But I discovered that alert look is really just his way of saying "huh?" I love the little guy though. He tries hard. And every time I say something...no matter how stupid it is...he looks at me adoringly like he's thinking: "Oh my god! That is so true! You are so brilliant!"

              The cats I have owned:

Baby - a fluffy gray Himalayan with a terrible case of fleas =(

Grasshopper - He could hop straight up in the air and preferred that method of travel!!! We had his paws checked out and he was fine and healthy...just liked Tigger. We were gonna name him Tigger, but well..."The wonderful thing about Tiggers is that I'm the only one!"

Buddy - the shelter named him. He was a big black guy who looked like a panther...and he scratched you anytime you walked by him even in mid-nap. A suspicious character!...

Nala - an orange and white tabby that made best friends with our golden retriever and would sleep curled up with him on our couch - under his chin. I have pics to prove it!!

              **meow!**

I'm very sorry to hear about your sister - this was a very sweet way to remember her, I'm sure she would be really pleased.

I have a funny story about my cat Snickers. She is an indoor cat, but in the summertime i let her out on occasion because she likes to chew on the grass. Well here in Ohio we have received a good amount of snow so far this year.

Yesterday I was in the kitchen and she started meowing at me. Well Snickers hardly ever meows so when she does i pay attention to her, because it is unusual for her to meow. So i looked down at her and asked "What?" she started scratching at the door and looking up at me meowing. I told her "You dont want to go out there its too cold" Well she kept meowing and scratching so I said "Fine." I opened the door to let her out and she stopped right at the porch, sniffed at the snow, did this little whole body shiver thing, turned around and ran right past me. Later I found her curled up on the heating vent, and i told her "I told you that you didnt want to go out there."

Just stopped by here because Gail loved cats. At one time there were probably 40 or so of them around here, but they seem to be easy prey for the owls and coyotes that hang around from time to time, especially with a bunch of cats living around here and there. There is one cat left now, Gail named her B.C. for black cat or bitch cat, depending on what she was into that day. She is about 15 or 16 as she was grown when we got the dog that we had to put down last year and Sassy was just over 14. B.C. is definitely an indoor cat and will venture outside once in awhile on a warm day if there is grass to munch on. Mostly she is just around and sleeps here and there but does like to lay on my feet at night.

Ahhh...B.C., the lone survivor. That's cats for you, you never know what mood you'll find them in and that's why I love them. So many years with your animals, that is the really hard part. After 14, 15, 16 years, it's like they are your kids. So hard to see them go, but worse to see them suffer. I hope B.C. has many more years, stranger things have happened!

B.C. was here before all those other cats came into the picture, they came and they went, B.C remains.

Multiple accounts. He also has been on a rant against Tyler lately. Tyler says that wasn't part of it but there were several inflammatory posts by AK calling Tyler a racist etc. They sure didn't help AK's case at all.

Look for tyler's article on blackface during Halloween.

Look up at 6.4 on this seed.

I just want an explanation on the 'attention-whore' tags that are appearing on users articles.

Thanks Elaine and RAC for the info. I saw some of Tyler's article - Blackface during Halloween, the exchanges between them were undoubtedly confrontational, with multiple deletions - I guess someone went too far? Sure will miss him.

Wow, two followers. He's banned for racial remarks and stalking. How obvious is that. He shouldn't be whining. Everyone else would have been banned for that.

And who cares about attention-whores? Seriously?

So you wouldn't care if a tag appeared on your articles that you didn't put there? Especially if it was a negative one like "attention whore"?

So now tags with attention-whore appear on articles and the author didn't put it there? How many times did that happen?

Never mind. After you mentioned it in another post...I decided to dig. There's a Newsvine group called 'attention-whores' that Kevin was apparently a part of.

After going back up and re-reading his post about tags in this thread, he never mentioned the 'attention-whores' tag. He was mad about this article being changed to 'not-news'. Someone else mentioned the "attention whores" thing.

The article is indeed, not-news...so that tag is correct. And it would appear that Kevin added the 'attention-whores' tag himself, as a member of the group.

I love cats! I've had several over the years, all wonderful.

Our current cat is Simon, a gorgeous black and white tuxedo, one of several I've had. He's a sweetie, great personality. And one heck of a security guard.

In addition to making quick work out of any mouse unlucky enough to wander in, he once downed a bat that was flying down the staircase. Made one heck of a mess, but he saved me from having a bat flying around the bedroom while I was still asleep....my furry hero!

Down to the beach with AK and Bugs to drink Margaritas and listen to Jimmy Buffett.

He was funny, JJ. I'll miss him too. Funniness is not to be taken lightly. :)

I miss Kevin too, he impressed me the way he took on powerful people to expose the truth. He fought Amazon.com over the pedophile book, he named names and places in child prostitution rings and drug cartels...and that is brave. He has a good sense of humor too, so to me he was an all around good guy. And anyone who loves cats gets high marks with me. Another good Viner gone.

Whatever was going on with him at the end, I'm still sorry it turned out like this... I agree that it's all quite sad.

I gotta say one thing here. Kevin and I would butt heads....a lot. But in defense of him...if any member of NV staff put that tag up there and then removed it after Kevin was banned, it makes NV look childish and vindictive and thoroughly unprofessional to be jacking around with other peoples tags.

Probably removed for legal reasons. I've seen screen shots of it on other sites, so there isn't much point in removing it now.
