Those willing to give up freedom for security deserve neither and will lose both

Since September 11, 2001 the United States has become a virtual prison for it's citizens. People started complaining about border security with Mexico and the construction of a huge fence was started. The fence threatens wildlife and fragile ecosystems in areas, but no one cares. The fence was not completed, is not completed and probably will not be complete for many, many years. The fence does not stop anyone from smuggling drugs or humans, the bad guys simply dig a tunnel under the fence. The fence only keeps American's in America.

What has happened with border security? Nothing to deter drugs and people from entering unless it is an American Citizen, you must have a passport to leave or enter the USA. In all of American history you could go on a cruise, fly to and from many countries and return to USA without a passport, not any more.

Airport security has become so invasive that you must submit to sexual molestation to board an airplane. The TSA requires that you allow them to put their hands on your penis and testicles and into the crack of your buttocks. Women must submit to having a pat-down that involves touching her breasts and vagina and buttocks. If a stranger were to touch your son's or daughter's sexual organs wouldn't you be a little beyond angry? The US Government now requires that you allow a stranger at the airport to sexually molest your child before boarding an airplane.

If you do not submit to being sexually molested you can allow them to X-Ray you. Just like other forms of high-energy radiation, X-rays can cause damage to cells in the body, which in turn can increase the risk of developing cancer. So now you are being given the choice of being exposed to radiation and a risk of cancer or being sexually molested. Who really considers this to be a good choice?

While Bush was in office they enacted the Patriot Act and the US Government and Telephone companies worked together to spy on American citizens. They took away our right to privacy while Osama Bin Ladin is still roaming the world as a free man.

I was an abuse victim and am now a victim of the TSA, I can not / will not fly because a stranger putting their hands on my genitals is out of the question. I will also not subject myself to X-Ray machines unless it is done in a hospital for a medical procedure. The high school dropouts working in the airports are obviously not Doctors.

Benjamin Franklin wrote, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Expanding on his comment and it is reasonable to understand that giving up your liberty in the name of safety will eventually lead to a loss of more liberties and will not make you safe from the tyranny of the Federal Government.

Keep screaming for more safety and tighter regulations and eventually you will get what you are asking for. On January 1, 2010, 40,000 new laws were enacted in the USA and not one was to give you more freedom yet there are 40,000 more things that can put you in jail for failure to comply.

The terrorists have won and there is no denial of the facts. Welcome to the new post 9-1-1 USA, a prison for the people.

How many laws need to be passed before the Constitution of the United States is invalid?

Already we submit to illegal search, seizure and intimidation by the states and Federal Government without warrant or reasonable cause.

Russia is starting to look like a liberal society in comparison.

Acapulco Kevin, this is a great article. Just yesterday, in a discussion with a friend, I made the comment that we might as well just rip the Constitution up and throw it out. That's where were headed, why not save our government the trouble?

Flying is not worth it. TSA xrays and sexual molestation body searches will not deter terrorists. Terrorists have already used surgically implanted bombs. TSA scanners don't know enough anatomy to tell the difference between a healthy organ and a surgically implanted bomb. It is not worth the effort to xray passengers.

We are giving up freedom and not getting much safety. Perhaps the answer is to hand every flight attendant and passenger a loaded Glock when boarding. That alone would insure that passengers and attendant treated each other with more respect. It would also deter terrorists. I would also recommend that on such flights, no alcohol should be served.

kevin- excellent article , good job, me and my wife talked about this very thing last night, why so much security at the airport and hardly any at the border, all it would take is for someone to land in mexico then just waltz across the border, we have no plans to ever fly again, if enough people stop flying maybe TSA will get the message. once again, great job Kevin

I am in total agreement with you. I live in the middle of this mess, and am privy to alot that is never written nor published. Many here have read my articles and seeds on this mess at the Border, and have given minute by minute blows as they happened. Why is it that the majority in this country still think the whole thing is about race? It sure as hell isn't. Illegal is illegal, it doesn't matter even if you are a green martian, you still are illegal here in the US.

There was a report that the illegal people are needed in this country because there won't be enough Americans of working age in the coming years to do the jobs, and support the economy, and pay taxes. Therefore, all illegals are being catered to.

If you are an American citizen, you are in their sights for harrassment, surveillance, hinderance of travel without passport, Feds having been given the right to access anything and everyone on the internet, etc. All Chinese are learning English at a very rapid pace, and more and more are coming to the US colleges. You all can figure out what is next.

This came up in my wanderings about the 'net today. I'm not sure if it's been posted elsewhere, but it was pretty interesting.

A gentleman refusing to be molested at the San Diego airport caught most of the encounter audio on his cellphone.

If they grope us at airports, do they have to buy us dinner? Just wondering...

I don't understand this, I really don't.

They use the underwear bomber as their example as to why this is necessary. Okayyyyy.... but the parents of that young man reported him. Repeatedly! Yet no one followed up. No one flagged him. Wouldn't it stand to reason if Homeland Security is doing what it was created to do, normal American citizens wouldn't have to be sexually molested to be allowed to fly?

In my opinion "freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose" -

Complete freedom is anarchy...and I cannot be free if I don't feel safe. I want TRUE freedom, not TOTAL freedom.

I hope that a terrorist never hides an explosive in a body cavity. Can you imagine what TSA inspections will be like after that.

We had an underwear bomber, a butt hole bomber is probably not out of the question. People are so caught up in how someone is going to kill them that they forget how to live. People are willing to give up freedom in return for prison style safety. It is not a reasonable trade off. The chances of being a victim of a terrorist are less than the possibility of being killed in a car accident driving to the airport.

And yes, the TSA can do a cavity search without a warrant. Welcome to the new USA.

I am located in the area which worse hit by these terrorists, and here on each street we go through this experience, and I can see its fruitful so for our own safety we should appreciate these search, off course I am not saying that an insulting search.

There is other expect to the situation too, that is terrorist objectives are to terrorize society, and by such search we proves that what they are doing is working.

So it become significant to search in way that does not appear a sense of insecurity.

Thanks for the insight Asif.

I like to believe that it is part of the American character to protest procedures like this. This is part of what makes the US different than other places.

if only people had been concerned about this point 9 years ago after 9-11 when Bush inacted the Patriot act and then held Obama's feet to the fire to end it instead everyone just let him extend it and add to it.

People don't trust themselves anymore just the government.

Just last night hubby and I were talking about this. I understand that children under the age of 12 are exempt from the gropping search. I would like to see them do a gropping and body scan of the Pope, priests, and nuns. What is next, an anus probe?

That is what they said yesterday. Children under 12 are exempt from the searches.

NOT TRUE - IT WAS A LIE

There is a video on MSNBC today with a 3 year old child screaming while she is being searched aggressively by TSA staff. MSNBC seems to have removed the video for whatever reason.

Terrorism is a tool, not an entity. Entities (people) use terrorism to frighten people in to giving in to their cause. Right now, terrorists are using terrorism as a tool to try to destroy our country and they seem to be succeeding. WHY? Because we as a nation are to damn politically correct. We don't want to offend someone becasue of race, religion, color, national origin, sex or sexual preference so we grope grandma and x-ray toddlers. But the guy that looks middle eastern and has "ali" in his name somewhere gets a cursory inspection because some PC mamby pamby wanker is afraid of being called a racist. Got news for you "ali" - I'm NOT PC so I don't care if you call me racist. This nation's security needs to start profiling. It works, just ask the Israeli security folks for El Al airlines. My bet is that there are a lot of "alis" in this nation, just waiting for the right chance to kill Americans and they walk among us with the confidence that if they look at a cop or security officer and say the word "racist" they can get along with their terrorism because Joe the cop will back off - his Chief doesn't want any bad press.

Someday, they expect you all to say "well, sharia law is OK because we don't have to get patted down, x-rayed and questioned to fly to grandma's for Thanksgiving. WHAT Thanksgiving? Under sharia law, there probably won't be a Thanksgiving.

My message to all REAL Americans - stand up for your freedom - don't let scum like osama bin laden and his little group of follower pigs take it from you. Call, write or e-mail your governmental representatives and demand that profiling be done in airports, train stations, bus stations, ship terminals and mass transit stations across the nation.

Here is is my message to all you radical Islamic terrorists around the world - You are ignorant worthless cowards. You wipe with your right hand and eat pork. You treat women like dirt and prefer little boys. IF you get to heaven, there will be 72 Virginians (names like Washington, Jefferson...) waiting to kick your butt, not any virgins (who would tell you to kiss off anyway) and you will see that the streets of heaven are guarded by United States Marines. If you want to kill Americans and yourself, you will die and be tiny pieces of maggot food - not as a martyr.

Acapulco Kevin, very well written article. I am in complete agreement that we; Free America, are loosing more of our freedoms every day. It angers me to know that every word we type or speak is being monitored in one form or another. We don't have the freedoms I had as a child and the few we still have are being taken away right under our very noses in the name of SAFETY. NOT.

Back when Clinton was Presiden Osama Bin Laden was in the hands of the US military and Clinton told themto let him go. Now our "FREE America" has to watch over our shoulders each day in hopes that OBL does not strike again. Where is swift justice to the criminal? Why do we continually allow the OBL's of life to haunt us?

Do you know that American families I met here in Europe who are being stationed back in the US are afraid to go home because it is so dangerous there. We don't punish criminals, we punish the innocent and the criminals are running free. Here in Germany the children can run and play, walk to school, go to the store and never, NEVER worry about being hurt. They know the law will bring SWIFT justice to the criminal.
