Jon Stewart Video here.

With Jon Stewart's "Restoring Sanity" Rally coming up on October 30 President Barack Obama gave an unprecedented appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart for the full hour of the show.

Jon Stewart asked tough questions about the economy and the state of affairs in the USA and was not easy on the president.

This is the first time a current president has appeared on The Daily Show and marks the second historical television appearance since appearing on "The View".

Jon Stewart asked, "Are you disappointed in how it's gone?"

President Obama replied, "The situation is no surprise given the country's high unemployment, underwater mortgages, and an overall poor economy. Folks are going to be frustrated, and that's going to reflect on the political environment".

The President also stated that in context, he's "feeling great about where the American people are, considering what we've gone through."

"We've gone through the two toughest years since The Great Depression."

The President saved us from the next great depression and pulled us all from the brink of disaster, 6 more years sounds good to me.

I agree. Sometime today the usual suspects from the Far Right Wing will be along complaining that the President should not have appeared on The Daily Show. I don't see any difference between appearing on The Daily Show and Fox News. They are both just entertainment shows.

Quite to the contrary. As a member of the Republican party I believe we should see more of Obama on shows such as this. Everytime this fool opens his mouth Americans need to see and realize just exactly what his agenda is. I especially loved this little tidbit.

He even endorsed the idea of changing Senate rules that require 60 Senators to vote to end a filibuster and approve legislation. "I would love not to have a 60 vote requirement," Obama said.

Maybe Palpatine...errr Obama should just disband the Senate all together and after that maybe he can remove Presidential term limits and get rid of that pesky voting thing we do in this country. Wouldn't that be peachy?!?!

lol

stewart was hard on Obama???

it was like a lovefest.

Obama calling people that oppose him enemies and lacking common sense.

that is not a leader and not someone we need.

Not one president in our history has ever done that.

he deserves no cooperation and no respect.

bush was talking to other countries.

and he was talking about america as a whole...but nice spin

NO PRESIDENT....I repeat NO PRESIDENT has ever called the opposing party.....enemies or said they lacked common sense.

he sucks as a president based on that alone....he is not uniting a country with that type of language but dividing it.

    he needs to go.

actually I have video of obama stating these things....the common sense statement was at his speech on the passing of healthcare reform and the enemies statement was from two days ago.

prove me I am wrong......if every president has called half of the nation stupid I want to see a video of that.

you cant prove me wrong because I am right. I am not right wing by the way. Obama is just a cancer on this nation...plain and simple.

as a matter of fact I put the challenge out there to any left wing nut....find it....you cant because Obama is the worst ever.

    peace out.

how can i possible prove that no president right or left wing has never stated that without providing a link to every single video ever made of those presidents!!!!!!!!

its like asking me to prove that dirt is dirt....We all know dirt is dirt...its common sense...but to find video of it would be impossible.

No president has ever stated such things...not bush jr, clinton, bush sr, reagan, carter , ford, nixon, LBJ, etc.

        left wing loses again.

this is grown up talk bad.

can you guys, at least comment on the show.. accepted, James saw it as a lovefest..

I would also say Steward was not hard on Obama, but thought it was funny when Obama said there were things we didn't know about

Stewart jumped on that... Asking.. suspiciously " What things don't we know about?"

classic funny as heck John Stewart.

and of course it was a love fest. they both are intelligent rational, normal thinking Americans.

spin that into what you want... and make yourself dizzy. it's the first high kids learn go for it..

        @james-1416766

We currently have the best and brightest minds in the USA running the show. We certainly have the most educated economists working with the President. Hillary is handling her job as Secretary of State extremely well and has kept us out of a 3rd war. It takes a lot more intelligence to avert War and Global Economic Meltdown and Disaster than it does to put us in the middle of all of that mess. That is where Republican leadership put us.

I am proud of the current mess we are in as a nation ~ This Administration came in after the Stupidest Administration in America's history bankrupt us, put us in 2 wars and walked off.

It really is quite historical, Republican's screw us then we elect the Democrats to clean it all up so we can hand it back to the Republicans.

Really maybe we should examine each of our first posts in this thread perhaps. Methinkest me seeist a Liberal troll. The only thing you have been correct about is 1. Yes I am a Republican. 2. Yes I am a member of the Tea Party. You say it like you believe I would be ashamed to admit it. I mean I understand your concern, you are a Liberal...a member of a party known for its deceit, lies, and condoning of the destruction of this country. Then you helped to elect an incompetent fool to the Office of the Presidency of the United States of America in 2008. Yeah, I would definitely not willingly admit I was involved in that. But no worries little buddy, we are about to correct a lot of your errors for you. Two years later we will correct your biggest mistake when we remove this arrogant prick from his position of irresponsibility. Next time when you vote...do something foreign to Liberals and Democrats, learn to actually read what a candidate stands for before you make an uneducated decision. For petes sake its not like its like reading a 2000+ page piece of @!$%# legislature that doesn't do @!$%# for anybody. It will save Americans from having to clean up your mess...again.

Your analogy may be totally incorrect, but at least conservatives can actually be accused of rational thinking...the alternative is the disease known as "Liberalism".

What's wrong with Liberalism? What do you have against freedom of the individual?

                                      http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/liberalism

a political or social philosophy advocating the freedom of the individual, parliamentary systems of government, nonviolent modification of political, social, or economic institutions to assure unrestricted development in all spheres of human endeavor, and governmental guarantees of individual rights and civil liberties.

yes, but sadly MANY of them never learn rational communication, and immediately resort to name calling...

Great seed Kevin. It was a good interview. I'm glad to see that President Obama is getting out and speaking again. He did a great job of pointing out the political necessity to build structures and frameworks within the existing system, that can grow and expand over time.

Too many people don't understand how sluggish our political system is. Getting anything done is a challenge in WDC; major reform is almost miraculous.

Are you saying that Obama plans on running again in 2016 after losing the White House in 2012? I suppose that WOULD be historic... ;)

What a great idea! Change the term limits and he can be elected 3 times!

Republicans want to change the 1st and 14th amendments, why not change the term limits too.

He wont lose the White House. He has two years to go, he got most of the mess cleaned up in the first two, now it all just has to be time tested for 2 years and he will look like a National Hero.

sure killing americans citizens without due progress is great progress...corporate welfare is great progress, expanding on the patriot act is great progress.

killing americans without due process right there qualifies him as top worst president ever..and I dont care if he lined the streets in gold.....that is a severe violation of american...let alone human rights.

regarding the 14th amendment, repubs only want to change the birthright clause, not the entire 14th. it does need to be changed. the birthright clause has served it's purpose. it is no longer needed. by the way, i have some left leaning democrat friends who also feel the birthright clause should be changed. it's not only right wing repubs that feel that way.

I thought that Obama did a good job in pointing out that just because much of the legislation that has been passed was not 100% of what he and many others may have wanted, it was not "timid."

                                            Jon Stewart was awesome.
he didnt' defer to the president one bit, didn't ease up on him.

I thought calling the president "dude" was a bit out of bounds, but other than that, he's proven he's the best interviewer around.

NBC has some of the best reporters and commentators in the business. Jon Stewart gave News to the Comedy Chanel in the form of satire. He is every bit as good as those on other media networks and does it with a smile. He rocks.

President Obama is in line with my other favorite Bill Clinton.

I would call Clinton dude and I would say it to our current President ~ They both have "Cool Dude" qualities. I would not say Dude to any in the Bush family ~ it would make me puke a little.

The big issue with most democrat supporters is...

                                            1) Single payer didn't happen. 60% of the population has *always* wanted single payer healthcare, they are vastly dissapointed by the fact that it didn't happen. Everyone is tired of paying health insurers and their ridiculous rules.

                                            - Healthcare would still be private sector, but there wouldn't be all these hoops, regulations, loopholes, with insurance carriers.

                                            2) Financial regulation didn't come down hard on the people who cratered the financial sector. It was very limited, wallstreet is banging away again (at record profits) and everyone is still unemployed. That tells you who benefited the most from the bailouts.

                                            3) While progress has been significant in Iraq and the withdrawl continues, Afghanistan violence increased, and people don't like to see that.

                                            4) The economy just stinks for most people. And when things are frustrating, the person at the top (which is Obama) is going to get the ire of the people.

And, hereeeeeeeee's Obama! Another Rock Star appearance. He would be a lot more entertaining if he played a guitar!

It would be awesome if the president did a little work once in a while. Now, his trip to India with a whopping 570 rooms reserved, Air Force One, two jumbo jets, fighter planes flanking around him...it just boggles my brain.

Our Country is in a mess because of past and present practices and he sits on his throne "once in a while".

I was a huge fan of Ross Perot. We got William Jefferson Blythe III. Cool. I think he might be a pirate from England. Anyway, Whitney Houston and ub40 were popular on the radio. We elected Bill because Ross wanted us to. We were playing Jamaican Music and he was talking about smoking grass on MTV. It was a good time for a change.

It was 8 years of great changes and change in the bank. Then we replaced our pot head with a Coke head named George Walker Bush. If the difference is between a pot head and a coke head I want it stated for the record that I prefer a Democrat Pot Head.

Concerning President Obama, he is pretty damn good and you will all see this very soon. He got his agenda pushed through congress in under 2 years. The bills the Republicans stall and drag~ass on always prove to help people. Look back on my words in two years.

We can't blame Pres. Obama for cigar time polish my knob hour or for any scandals. The man is scandalous isn't he? Maybe he should just smoke some weed. That way we can declare war on drugs and all get into a civil war.
